Choosing a Corset

The corset, a known lingerie staple for centuries, is once again gaining a following in the modern fashion scene. As opposed to the metal contraptions that were in vogue during the Victorian era, today’s version is now being made from breathable fabrics.

When shopping for this type of innerwear, consider how often you will be wearing the corset. Avoid tight-laced items if you plan to wear one daily. A waist cinchier that comes in an hourglass shape is ideal.

Next, determine your intended purpose for wearing one. If you want it to reshape your body or for costuming purposes, get a piece with extra reinforcing, seaming, and boning. These additions can help enhance your hips, abdomen, and bottom.

Modern corsets are usually made of PVC, leather, or satin. The latter offers the customer a wide colour palette while stretchy material like leather would be more comfortable on the plus-size woman. If chosen well, this kind of lingerie can enhance and provide support for any bust size. Also, note that height is always a consideration when purchasing an over-bust version. Tall women might need to order a long version.
